A sip of Lemongrass Lime Tea is a blend of earthy tea, citrusy lemongrass, tangy lime, and sweet honey. It is an invigorating, flavorful, aromatic drink that will surely recharge you on a busy or tiring day.
Ingredients You Need
- Tea – Black, green, and jasmine teas are commonly used for this drink.
- Lemongrass – Lemongrass has a unique aroma and flavor. It has floral notes, tastes slightly sweet but tangy, and unsurprisingly, of lemon – with hints of ginger too. Use fresh lemongrass if possible.
- Limes – It adds a tangy kick to this drink.
- Water – To steep the tea.
- Honey – To sweeten the tea just enough to balance the herbal and citrus notes of the lemongrass. You can also use other sweeteners.
How to Make Lemongrass Lime Tea
- Boil lemongrass stalks in water for 10-15 minutes. The longer they are boiled, the more intense their flavor is.
- Turn off the heat and steep the tea for 5 minutes.
- Add lime juice to the tea.
- Add honey, ice cubes if preferred, and lime slices into serving glasses. Pour and strain the tea into the serving glasses.

- 3-4 black/green/jasmine tea bags
- 3 stalks lemongrass, use the lower white part only, roughly chopped
- 2 cups (500 ml) water
- Lime juice, from 1 lime
- 4 lime slices, or more
- Honey, or other sweeteners
- Ice cubes, optional
Instructions
- Boil lemongrass – In a medium saucepan, add water and bring to a boil. Add lemongrass and simmer for 10-15 minutes. The longer the lemongrass is boiled, the more intense the flavor of lemongrass.
- Steep tea – Turn off the heat and steep the tea for 5 minutes.
- Add lime juice to the tea.
- Serve – Add honey, ice cubes if preferred, and 2 lime slices into each serving glass. Strain the tea through a sieve. If serving iced, make sure to cool the tea completely first so that the ice does not dilute the tea.
